LearnFlex Mobile

Introduction

LearnFlex Mobile offers a set of standard LearnFlex features that enable you to continue the learning process on a supported mobile device without interruption. By connecting remotely to our in-house data centre, learners can engage from anywhere, from any device, at any time, without the need for local installs. Specifically:

·        Learners and administrators can view their messages from any device, at any time, allowing them to stay current on required learning activities.

·        Learners can search for, register for, and launch SCORM 1.2, AICC, and 2004 courses from any location quickly and conveniently.

·        Learners can view their achievement records to keep track of past accomplishments, learning plans to see what courses they are expected to take, resources (such as PDFs, .jpegs, AVIs, and so on).

·        Administrators can review, approve, and deny course and LearnTrack requests on the go.

Additionally:

·        LearnFlex Mobile supports bi-directional interoperability with desktop LearnFlex, meaning that changes made in standard LearnFlex are immediately visible (upon refresh) in LearnFlex Mobile.

·        LearnFlex Mobile can be branded for your community through the use of Theme Manager.

However, the following features are not supported in LearnFlex Mobile:

·        Course cancellations

·        Travel and special needs

·        Launching Evaluator assessments

·        Display of course icons

·        Terms and conditions

·        Workshops

Configuring LearnFlex Mobile

While a standalone product, LearnFlex Mobile inherits the configuration and security settings of desktop LearnFlex. For example, if a user does not have access to the Messages module in desktop LearnFlex, then they will also not have access to it in LearnFlex Mobile.

Additionally, some operations can only be performed in desktop LearnFlex. For example, you can view your messages in LearnFlex Mobile but can only delete them in desktop LearnFlex.

Some configuration must be performed or noted specifically for LearnFlex Mobile. This includes:

·        LearnFlex Mobile access: Because it is a separate product, you need to make sure that you have purchased your LearnFlex Mobile licensing. Note: A separate LearnFlex Mobile installation is not required because it is a hosted mobile solution.

·        Course content: Learners can launch applicable courses from LearnFlex Mobile when the content has been created using the enhanced upload engine.

·        Resources: To allow headers and links to be visible to users in LearnFlex Mobile, you need to make sure that they have been designated for LearnFlex Mobile. Existing resources will be visible in both LearnFlex Mobile and desktop LearnFlex.

·        Keywords: LearnFlex Mobile searching uses names, descriptions, and/or keywords in its search values in the following areas: courses (used for registration, achievements, and learning plan), resources, and course and LearnTrack approval. It is recommended that you have valid and complete keywords to allow for optimal searching.

See the LearnFlex Mobile User’s Guide, available from the LearnFlex Support Centre, for a list of key differences, description of the interface, and explanation of procedures.
